About the Little Rock Scripture Study
This a parish-based program that leads people to a greater understanding of Scritpure. It helps you to be aware of God’s living presence in sacred Scripture and to appreciate how the Bible can be applied to daily life. This program provides a solid balance of scholarship, reflection and application. There are four essential elements to this program.

Daily Personal Study
Participants spend twenty minutes each day prayerfully reading and reflecting on an assigned section of the Scriptures. They use a Bible and a Study Set (which contains commentary and a study guide). The Commentary give solid scholarship which leads to a deeper understanding. The Study Guide directs the reflection with daily questions and space for written responses. This daily personal study forms the foundation for each session’s small-group sharing.

Small-Group Sharing
Participants gather in groups of eight to twelve to pray together and share the fruits of their daily personal study. With the guidance of a facilitator, an atmosphere of openness and trust is established in which God’s Word and its application to daily life can be discussed.

Video Lecture
A fifteen to twenty-minute lecture follows the small-group sharing discussions. This helps to develop and clarify the themes of the lesson. These video lectures are given by scripture scholars and help to bring you to a fuller understanding of God’s Word.

Prayer
Prayer is the most essential of the elements. In addition to daily personal prayer, participants use a simple, effective method of shared prayer in the small group. A source of community, support and guidance, prayer is the key to study at every stage.
